A Note on the Rosenbrock Procedure

چکیده
To be useful for extremely stiff systems of ordinary differential equations, A -stability and a maximally damped condition as \h -* °° (i.e., L-stability) are desirable. This paper investigates the condition of ¿-stability for a class of Runge-Kutta methods known as the Rosenbrock procedure. This procedure requires only one computation of a Jacobian matrix per step of integration, ¿-stable Rosenbrock methods up to order four are derived.

A note about the complexity of minimizing Nesterov's smooth Chebyshev-Rosenbrock function
This short note considers and resolves the apparent contradiction between known worst-case complexity results for first and second-order methods for solving unconstrained smooth nonconvex optimization problems and a recent note by Jarre (2011) implying a very large lower bound on the number of iterations required to reach the solution’s neighbourhood for a specific problem with variable dimension.
متن کاملROS 3 P - An accurate third - order Rosenbrock solver designed for parabolic problems
In this note we present a new Rosenbrock solver which is third{order accurate for nonlin-ear parabolic problems. Since Rosenbrock methods suuer from order reductions when they are applied to partial diierential equations, additional order conditions have to be satissed. Although these conditions have been known for a longer time, from the practical point of view only little has been done to con...
متن کاملPerturbation results for exponential Rosenbrock-type methods
In this note we consider exponential Rosenbrock-type methods that have been introduced in [1, 2, 3]. Since these methods involve several terms, which can not be computed exactly in praxis it is interesting to understand, how additional errors in the method affect the overall accuracy of the scheme. We will give a perturbation result for general perturbations and study the effect of inexact eval...
متن کاملA New Procedure of Impact Wearevaluation of Mill Liner (RESEARCH NOTE)
The significant costs insert on mineral processes due to mill liner wear including the labor costs, price of material and shut down periods. Therefore, the study of this phenomenon is economically important to optimize the mill operating conditions and liner profile design to decrease the wear rate. There is no appropriate and applicable research on impact wear evaluation of mill liners. In the...
متن کاملBenchmarking stiff ODE solvers for atmospheric chemistry problems II: Rosenbrock solvers
In the numerical simulation of atmospheric transport-chemistry processes, a major task is the integration of the stii systems of ordinary diierential equations describing the chemical transformations. It is therefore of interest to systematically search for stii solvers which can be identiied as close to optimal for atmospheric applications. In this paper we continue our investigation from 20] ...
